One threat to healthcare value is doing too much. Dr. R. Adams Dudley of UCSF discusses low value care in the form of unnecessary testing prior to cataract surgery. He says it occurs frequently, despite clear guidelines recommending against it. Then he looks at the value of telemedicine from commercial e-visit websites.
