In Pursuit of Torturers - Legally Speaking

More than any other lawyer in the country, Paul Hoffman is responsible for turning an obscure 1789 law called the Alien Tort Statute into a potent weapon. Under the ATS, Hoffman has, on behalf of the tortured, successfully sued foreign nationals, as well as corporations, in U.S. federal courts for acts committed abroad. In March 2013, UC Hastings law professor Naomi Roht-Arriaza interviewed Hoffman in San Francisco. (#25196)
