Dr. George Rutherford discusses the general concepts of disease emergence and re-emergence with specific reference to Ebola virus disease, influenza and anthrax, how we track changing patterns of these diseases around the world and how we approach their diagnosis and control. Influenza in particular is a prototype of an emerging infectious zoonotic disease with complex social and biologic factors that can lead to its epidemic spread. We'll also discuss personal preparedness and general ideas about how to avoid contact with these diseases. Recorded on 03/19/2015. (#29292)
