Elgar's Piano Quintet in A Minor - La Jolla Music Society SummerFest 2017

2/19/2018; 35 minutes

Elgar composed little chamber music, which makes his "Piano Quintet" a rare gem. The piece, composed at the very end of Elgar's career, features both an unusual combination of instruments and a wide range of sharply-contrasting moods. The result is a sort of elegant tension that stands apart from other works by this normally reserved composer. Recorded on 08/20/2017. (#33143)
