La Jolla, CA, March, 2007–In celebration of National Poetry Month, UCTV will present a diverse line-up of poetry programs Saturday nights in April. From intimate readings to inspiring conversations, UCTV brings you face-to-face with today’s most popular and up-and-coming writers. With ten campuses around the state, the University of California is a literal gathering place for writers from around the globe and UCTV’s poetry month lineup is a clear reflection of this. Highlights include (all times PT/ET) noted translator and poet Coleman Barks performing “Rumi and the Play of Poetry” (April 7 at 8pm); Pulitzer Prize-winner and recent U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser (April 14 at 8pm); a captivating reading by 2006 National Book Award winner Nathaniel Mackey (April 21 at 9pm); and Iraqi poet Dunya Mikhail, recipient of the UN Human Rights Award for Freedom of Writing (April 28 at 10pm).
