Awards recognize the breadth and depth of 'Television unlike anything else'
SAN DIEGO, CA, February 28, 2005--The University of California, San Diego Television (UCSD-TV) has been honored yet again in the 26th Annual Telly Awards. UCSD-TV earned four awards last week in the prestigious Telly Awards competition. The programs receiving the honor are "San Diego Opera Spotlight: The Pearl Fishers," produced by John Menier (Entertainment category); "Healthy Women, Healthy Families: Living Well During Pregnancy," produced by Erik vonNeumann (Health and Fitness category); "War Talk: A Student Marine Tells His Story," produced by Shannon Bradley (Talk Show/Interview category); and "In the Shadow of White Mountain," produced by Rich Wargo (Nature/Wildlife category).
These award-winning programs take viewers from the operatic stage, through the doctor's office, into the heart of a soldier, and to the peaks of the highest research station in North America. Such variety reflects UCSD-TV's broad range of programming and the rich intellectual and cultural diversity of the San Diego region. "For over a decade, UCSD-TV has aimed to capture the wide range of activities happening on the UCSD campus and throughout our community," said Lynn Burnstan, managing director of UCSD-TV. "We especially appreciate being recognized for excellence in so many different programming categories."
