Multifaceted conceptual composer/conductor Tan Dun has made an indelible mark on the world's music scene with a creative repertoire that spans the boundaries of classical, multimedia, Eastern and Western musical styles. His celebrated works include the Oscar Award winning original score for Ang Lee's film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; and Ghost Opera, which uses ordinary substances (water, stones, paper, metal) as percussion, along with traditional Chinese and Western instruments, in a theatrical fusion of the ancient and the avant-garde.
