UCSD-TV Honored in National Award Competition

LA JOLLA, CA - The University of California, San Diego Television (UCSD-TV) has been honored yet again in the 25th Annual Telly Awards. UCSD-TV earned three bronze awards last week in the prestigious Telly Awards competition. The programs receiving the honor are "San Diego Opera Spotlight: Therese Raquin," produced by UCSD-TV's John Menier, "The Soul of Saturday Night," co-produced by John Menier and John Malashock of Malshock Dance Company and the magazine program "State of Minds," executive produced by Shannon Bradley and hosted by journalist and UC Berkeley Assistant Vice Chancellor George Strait.

"UCSD-TV provides a broad spectrum of thought-provoking programming with something for everyone," said Lynn Burnstan, managing director of UCSD-TV. "So we especially appreciate being recognized for what's important and what's of value to the community."

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition and receives over 10,000 entries annually. The Telly has become one of the most sought after awards in the TV, commercial and video industry and has been awarded to other such notable production companies as Walt Disney Studios, Sony Pictures, and Paramount Studios.

UCSD-TV is a non-profit, non-commercial broadcast station licensed to the Regents of the University of California.
